 September 9 (Thursday) - Pink Heals Tour (pink fire truck) Norfolk
It's hard to describe just how pink and decorated the fire truck and supporting vehicles are.  Seeing is believing.  And it won't be just the first truck on display at 9500 Block of Shore Drive (East Beach/Oceanview area) in Norfolk.  The trucks will be making thier arrival at approximately 12:30 p.m. and we encourage folks to be on hand for an enthusiastic greeting.  During the day difference activities will be available icnluding breast cancer education, Race for the Cure registration, games and crafts for kids, face painting, clowns, Sparky the fire dog, Grant Austin Taylor and Lewis McGhee will be playing on stage, a bra decorating contest will be judged at 5 p.m. by Dave Graybill of the Pink Heals Tour.  New this year will be a survivor tent .  Komen will have our pink mermaid on hand as well.

 

Pink Ribbon Mermaid at Mermaids & Martinis Night September 21 (Tuesday) - Pink Martini Night, Norfolk
Back for a 4th year in Norfolk is one of our most popular events.  Perfect for after work or a casual date, the evening features live entertainment, silent auction, balloon purchase, heavy hors d'oeurvres and signature pink martinis.  This year's event will be held at the Chrysler Museum of Art from 5:30 pm - 9 pm.   To purchaes tickets for this event only click here.

   

 

October 2 (Saturday) - Rally for the Cure, Honeybee Golf Course, Virginia Beach
The Career Women's Golf Association brings Rally for the Cure to Honey Bee Golf Club, 2500 S. Independece Blvd, Virginia Beach.  Shotgun start will be at 1:00 p.m. and the event is open to the public.  The price in cludes greens fees, carts, Golf Digest magazine subscription, food, prizes and lots of fun.  Format will be best ball.  To sign up, sponsor, or donate please contact event coordinator Judy Lowery at Aewok@aol.com or call 757-477-3471.  100% of the net proceeds will be donated to Komen Tidewater.

 

 

 

 October 9 (Saturday) - Rally for the Cure, Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club, tennis event, Virginia Beach
 The public is invited to participate in this tennis event as part of the Rally for the Cure.  Set up as a 'double round robin' it is open to men and women, adults and teens from 9:00 am - noon.  Players need to be prepared to provide their NTRP rating (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+) so that they can be scheduled with a comparable group.  To register contact Mike Miller at 488-4591 or mmiller.uspta@netzero.net.

 

 October 16 (Saturday) - Race for the Cure, Virginia Beach
We hope you can join us for our largest fundraising event of the year when the Race for the Cure returns to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk for a 5K competitive and recreational run.  If running does not appeal to you that's OK because we have a 5K or 1 mile walk.   Families can participate since our Kids for the Cure is open for kids age 3-11 with a shirt designed especially for them by a local child.  Teams are 10 or more people but they can participate in different events.  This is a fun way to get your friends, family, co-workers, church or club members together in support of finding the cures and support local breast health services that are funded by Komen grants.   Registration is open now by clicking on RACE on the Homepage.  The dropdown menu will provide more information as well as a chance to register.   Exciting news this year is that J&A Racing Inc will be coordinating our competitive race.   J&A Racing Inc are well-known in the area for putting on the hugely popular Shamrock Marathon and the new Wicked runs among others.  We welcome their professional experise to that growing section of our Race. 

 

October 28 (Thursday) - Rally for the Cure, Kingsmill Resort & Spa - Plantation Course, Williamsburg
Well-known among golfers as a previous playing location of the LPGA, Kingsmill brings Rally for the Cure back for another year.  Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. on the Plantation Course.  Immediately following play, at approximately 1:30 p.m. will be a luncheon, silent auction and raffle.  To register, sponsor or donate please Event Coordiantor John Kueser at 757-253-3989.

 

 November 13 (Saturday) Komen Krop Klub (scrapbooking), Virginia Beach

 January 15, 2011 (Saturday) - Norfolk Admirals Pink in the Rink
Save the date for this popular yearly event.  The game this year saw Norfolk Admirals and the Adironack Phantoms wrapping part of their hockey sticks with pink tape in support of the day.  Icon Limousines bravely and generously donated their pink stretch limo to deliver breast cancer survivor, Cassi Fritzius, for the ceremonial puck dropping.  A pink stretch limo driving onto pink ice really is memorable.  Stay tuned for photos.  Tickets and updated information for this event will be available in the fall.

Rally for the Cure, Golf or Tennis
Rally can be incorporated into an existing event or you can design an event around the breast cancer awareness theme.  Most people chose to Rally through golf or tennis. However the program is easily adaptable to other activities such as, bridge, bunco, mahjong and other fitness pursuits like yoga, spinning and swimming.  Rally provides sign-up sheets, posters and flyer to promote the event among your club members and/or community members.  Rally provides all the materials to support the event including event decorations, a prize, participant goody bags, pink ribbon pins and other breast cancer awareness items.   Volunteer "Ambassadors" plan and host the events locally. Event Coordinators at Rally Headquarters act as a virtual event support staff.
