Grant Important
Dates
The Tidewater Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
begins its annual grant-making cycle each January
following the Race for
the Cure®. The Affiliate Grant Program of Susan G. Komen
for the Cure offers one-year grants for innovative Hampton Roads
projects in the areas of screening or treatment support projects
targeting services not otherwise available to the
medically under served populations in
the Komen Tidewater Affiliate's service
area.
The funding level for these awards is
based on the Affiliate's fundraising
events in the prior year.
Typically, the Affiliate will issue a Request for Grant Proposal (RFP) in early January to nonprofit organizations to organize and provide breast cancer programs in Hampton Roads. Grant proposals/applications are due back to the local Affiliate by mid-February.

A Grants Review Committee will review
all proposals and make funding recommendations
to the Affiliate Board of Directors at the
end of March. A diverse review panel that
includes representation from the medical
and research communities, breast cancer
survivors, community leaders, and health
educators evaluates all grants for funding
recommendations. The Board of Directors
will make the final determination, and grants
will be awarded in early April.
Monies for the first half of each grant
will be distributed after April 1st,
no later than 30 days after receipt of
the fully executed contract. Second payments
will be made 6 months later, upon
receipt of the 6-month progress report
from the grantee.
A final report is due within 90 days
of completion of the grant period. |
