Additionally, Komen for the Cure ranked second on the 2010 list of the nation’s most trusted charities. Thank you to all who help us daily in the fight to end breast cancer!

Funding Priorities

A minimum of 25 percent of the net income from the Tidewater Affiliate supports the national Komen for the Cure Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific conferences around the world.

Up to 75 percent of the net income from the Tidewater Affiliate stays in the local community to fund breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment projects.


Brief Summary of Priorities

1. Support and expand impact of breast healthcare services targeting breast health providers and grantees.

2.  Promote breast health awareness and importance of screening among women across the service area particularly in the targeted areas.

3. Increase Komen Tidewater presence and raise awareness of the value of Komen in the Tidewater service area, with particular attention to the targeted areas, through collaborative relationships, grants and mission outreach.

4. Increase screening/diagnostic/treatment resources available to women (regardless of age and race) in high risk areas.
