Part of the mission of the Tidewater
Affiliate of Susan G. Komen
for the Cure is to educate
and promote awareness of women's health
issues. Accordingly, Komen Tidewater Affiliate volunteers,
under the direction of the Education
Committee, participate in health fairs
and speak to community groups. In the
future, the Affiliate's Education Committee
will sponsor conferences and seminars
on topics related to breast cancer.

Individual Financial Assistance Grants for Women
Komen for the Cure and CancerCare have joined together to form Linking A.R.M.S™: Assistance & Resources Made Simple, a program that brings crucial financial and support services to women across the country.
This program provides financial assistance grants of up to $300 to low-income, under- and uninsured, medically underserved eligible women needing oral cancer treatment medication, pain and anti-nausea medication, lymphedema support and supplies, and durable medical equipment. In addition to financial assistance, patients receive counseling and information and referral services provided free of charge by CancerCare's staff social workers.
Patients who call the National Toll-Free Breast Care Helpline,
1.877 GO KOMEN, Komen may be transferred to the Linking
A.R.M.S.™ program if they are qualified to receive
financial assistance through the program. The caller is informed
of a variety of other CancerCare programs that may cover
expenses related to transportation, home-based medical care,
and child care.
